Job Description / Duties

Contract Dates:
August 2nd to October 2nd, 2022

The Project

Into the Woods Music and Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, Book by James Lapine.

Into the Woods is the company’s annual High School Project production. The only theatre program of its kind in North America, The High School Project (HSP) began in 1998 with West Side Story. Since then, the Grand Theatre has produced 33 High School Projects. The HSP offers an exceptional opportunity for students to receive education and training in the working environment of a professional theatre.

High school students from London and area are mentored by professional artists and coaches in all departments (acting, stage management, props, wardrobe, scenic art, sound, lighting, orchestra, and photography) culminating in a production on the Grand's Spriet Stage. The initiative provides leadership, creative, and communication skills that serve these students on and off stage - in every area of their lives.

The successful candidate will supervise an assistant stage manager, and typically two student stage managers on this project.

Qualifications / Required Skills

The candidate will be an Equity member with musical theatre background with at least 5 years of professional experience in a unionized environment. The candidate will also have experience and interest in working with high school aged people. Teaching or coaching experience would be an asset.
