Job Description / Duties

As integral team members within our development department, the new full-time roles of DONOR RELATIONS MANAGER and BUSINESS RELATIONS & EVENTS MANAGER help ensure WCT’s continued success, by achieving our fund development goals including identifying and cultivating new relationships, stewarding existing relationships, and assisting with a variety of fundraising activities & events. These roles require outgoing, positive individuals, with a passion for theatre, who are able to thrive in a lively, fast-paced, and dynamic environment and possess a creative mind and spirit, with vision and ambition.
Reporting to the Director of Growth and Engagement, these roles work with the following areas of focus:
Donor Relations Manager
• Support achievement of WCT’s fundraising goals and growth through identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of key donors for ongoing annual support, legacy gifts, and/or campaign and special project support
• Develop and implement appropriate cultivation and solicitation strategies that reflect a strong understanding of individual donor behavior and interests.
• Regularly schedule and conduct meetings or visits to engage prospects and donors, both in-person, by phone, and virtually as appropriate
• Plan and implement an annual program of scheduled communications and events related to donors, ensuring that they are created and delivered in a timely manner and align with the agreed overall marketing plan
• Management of various administrative duties, including database management and financial reporting, including the processing of donations, tax receipts and related recognition.
Business Relations & Events Manager
• Research sponsorship opportunities, create proposals, and deliver presentations to identify and attract production, program and event sponsorship
• Maintain core sponsor relations through the successful delivery of all benefits promised while seeking new benefits and opportunities with such partners.
• Build new relationships to connect businesses with WCT locally, provincially & nationally, using a variety of entry points & engagement opportunities
• Organize, and execute key events designed to cultivate new and to sustain long-term donor relations & community engagement.
• Participate in the planning, producing & execution of WCT’s special events
• Represent WCT at networking and community events.

Both roles will provide additional support to the Development department overall, including
• Foundations and granting submissions;
• Administrative support to the department as required;
• Support to other development team members as operational needs dictate;
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications / Required Skills

The ‘Ideal’ Mix of Skills, Experience & Traits Might Include…
• Experience, training or skills in areas such as: fundraising, communications, business development, event management or similar roles
• Excellent interpersonal skills, customer service experience, a pleasant telephone demeanor, with a proven history of effective relationship building
• Self-motivated, with the ability to multi-task, problem solve, and prioritize in a timely and efficient manner
• Able to creatively problem-solve with ingenuity, and an eye for solutions
• Exceptional written and oral communication skills
• Class 5 Driver’s License and access to a vehicle, an asset
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, with occasional evening or weekend work
• An interest in and excitement for theatre, WCT and our community, essential

Additional Information

Position Details:
• Both roles are full-time, ongoing positions, at 40-hours per week, largely based during office hours, but with some evening or weekend work expected.
• The roles are based in Kamloops, BC, and a move to/residency within the Kamloops community is required. Both roles work out of our Pavilion Theatre admin office in a largely in-person work environment.
• A relocation stipend is available.
• The salary range is commensurate to experience and is between $40-48,000
• WCT has a generous benefits package that includes extended health, paid vacation, time off during the holiday season, and a flexible work schedule.
• The successful candidate will ideally start on or around August 23 – September 7, 2021 (with flexibility).
