Job Description / Duties

The Shaw Festival has an employment opportunity for a full time Associate Technical Director in the Studio Theatre, covering a maternity between February and September 2022. This is an exciting, fast-paced, dynamic team position. It demands commitment, flexibility, ingenuity, creativity and a good sense of humour.

Responsibilities include:

• Reports to the Production Director
• Manages all technical aspects of production for the Studio Theatre
• Co-ordinates information with the creative teams and department heads to ensure the highest production standards
• Supervises the production operations of the facility
• Provide effective leadership and support to both union (IATSE) and
non-union staff.
• Maintain and operates all theatre facilities and equipment in accordance with safety standards and legal regulations
• Plays an active role on the Health and Safety Committee
• Responsible for meeting technical deadlines and budget expectations
while maintaining high production standards

Qualifications / Required Skills

• Demonstrated operational knowledge of all theatre technical systems and protocols
• Ability to motivate and provide direction and support to supervisors and crew
• Good written and oral communication skills
• Proven time management and organizational skills with attention to detail
• The incumbent shall have demonstrated ability in the area of technical direction
with at least five years experience
• Proficiency with computer software programs; Auto CAD / Vectorworks and Microsoft Office
• A post secondary education in a technical theatre program or the equivalent would be considered

Salary: Salary range: $1,400. - $1,500. weekly.
