Job Description / Duties

4th Line Theatre, an outdoor theatre company located in Millbrook, Ont., is currently looking for two Assistant Directors for the 2023 summer season.

Dates:
1) May 30, 2023 to June 29, 2023 (5 weeks) – The Tilco Strike by D’Arcy Jenish; directed by Cynthia Ashperger

2) July 4, 2023 to August 3, 2023 (5 weeks)—The Cavan Blazers by Robert Winslow; directed by Kim Blackwell

Responsibilities of this position will include:
• Assisting the Director during rehearsals
• Running rehearsal warm-ups and focus activities
• Helping distribute information to other theatre departments
• Communicating with cast and crew and theatre administration where needed
• Working with actors one-on-one and in groups to advance the vision of the Director

The successful candidate will become a participant in the company’s Epic Women’s Directing Program, which aims to provide women directors the opportunity to train and work in the company’s unique community-based model.

Qualifications / Required Skills

• Professional theatre experience in directing and/or stage management
• Is creative, curious and passionate about theatre and has the ability to work in a team environment
• Must enjoy working outdoors

Additional Information

4th Line Theatre can arrange temporary housing options for the length of the contract for out-of-town applicants.

Salary: Minimum rate of $550/week (based on experience)
