Job Description / Duties

including, but not limited to:
- assisting the carpenter on show builds
- assisting the carpenter on set installations
- maintenance of set/furniture after carpenter contract ends
- leading (and taking part in) show changeovers (all departments)
- creating safe work practices for changeovers

Qualifications / Required Skills

- some experience in theatre carpentry
- focus on safe work practices
- team-oriented, punctual, reliable, safe work ethic
- must enjoy working in a challenging creative environment
- able to lift/carry up to 50lbs
- experience in repertory theatre is an asset
- be fully vaccinated against Covid-19, according to Newfoundland & Labrador definitions.

Additional Information

The Festival provides return travel (equivalent to the most economical method) for contracted company members.

The Festival provides shared housing in the community for company members. A housing rental fee and damage deposit apply.

The Gros Morne Theatre Festival is a summer repertory theatre festival operated by TNL. This season, the Festival will produce six productions – two mainstage shows and four studio shows. The Gros Morne Theatre Festival is in the seaside community of Cow Head, Newfoundland and Labrador, which is situated in the spectacular Gros Morne National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Nurse Myra Bennett Centre for the Performing Arts is a newly constructed, state-of-the-art facility, featuring a 178-seat proscenium style theatre with lobby and bar, a smaller 75-seat studio theatre/rehearsal hall, offices, full production facilities, and a commercial kitchen for preparation of dinner theatre meals. The Grand Unveiling of this facility will take place in August!
