Job Description / Duties

Ballet Jörgen is Canada’s most active touring dance company, performing across Canada and into the United States each season. The Wardrobe Supervisor will oversee all areas of wardrobe for Ballet Jörgen, including fittings, alterations, repairs, inventory, organization and laundry. The Wardrobe Supervisor will tour with the Company, so a desire to travel to small communities from coast to coast across all ten Canadian provinces and into the United States is a must. 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Managing costume use for rehearsals;
Managing costume storage at Company warehouse;
Updating paperwork for all Company ballets and keeping a detailed costume inventory & photos;
Supervise and assist pre-tour costume load-out from warehouse and studio;
Supervising theatre wardrobe personnel;
Assisting with costume load-in, setup and load-out;
Costume fittings;
Fittings for Local Participants while on tour;
Costume repairs/alterations;
Laundry; costumes to dry cleaners;
Keeping detailed notes on costumes and venue wardrobe facilities; 
Managing costume rentals;
Driving production vehicles including 16’ box cube;
Assisting with all performance/event load ins and load outs and from the Ballet Jörgen warehouse and studio space as necessary.

Qualifications / Required Skills

Good knowledge of costume repair and cleaning techniques a must;
Experience as a qualified seamstress in a professional setting and prior theatrical dance costume experience a must;
Class G Ontario Drivers Licence or equivalent a must;
Valid passport a must;
Self-motivated, able to work independently while also being a part of a small team and possess good organizational and time management skills;
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal;
Knowledge of wig maintenance an asset;
Must be able to handle stressful situations and deadline pressure while ensuring accuracy
Work will include evenings and weekends;
French an asset;
Touring experience an asset. 

Additional Information

The Wardrobe Supervisor will report to the Production Manager.
 
Additional Information:
Ballet Jörgen’s 2022-2023 season will include tours of Anne of Green Gables – The Ballet, The Nutcracker, Cinderella and a mixed repertoire “Small Halls” performance. Touring will take place across Canada and into the United States.
