Job Description / Duties

Starvox Entertainment is looking for a dynamic team player to lead the touring production of Potted Potter: The Unauthorized Harry Experience. This 2-man parody has been an international hit, including two off-Broadway runs. The PM/A1 will be responsible for getting the show in and out of IATSE and other venues across Canada, as the main technical contact. Schedule is as follows:

---Show advance with venues-- ASAP

---On tour- tour runs Sept. 22-Dec. 16, with casual work Dec. 16-Jan. 17

The production manager’s duties may include, but are not limited to:
• Show builds—may include management of:
o Sourcing and building, maintenance and repair of any set, costume, prop elements
o Sourcing and building/packing of sound and lighting gear

• Advancement of all production elements with venues:
o Review tech rider
o Discuss all tech elements with local production managers/technical directors in advance of the date, or as soon as this contract begins
o Maintain a contact log of all contact with local production. PM should track all communication with venue including dates of contact, who was contacted, and items discussed. Format of log is at PM’s discretion

• Function as main on-site liaison between the show and venue staff
o Including stage labour, (non-technical) front of house and management

• Supervise venue IATSE and other crew

• Management of show touring crew

• Preparation and execution of on-time load-in/out schedule

• Operation of show sound board/mixing of show OR teaching the local audio engineer to mix the show

• Advancement and management of transport logistics (scheduling/managing any external trucking companies, import/customs paperwork for cross-border tours, etc.)

• Occassional operation of 24’-26’ truck

• Budget creation/successful and scrupulous management of weekly show budget

• Weekly expense reports to General Manager
o Includes ongoing communication with Starvox accounting department to approve/review production related invoices being paid from the home office

• Settlement of shows on behalf of Producer

• Ensure safety of all cast and crew

Qualifications / Required Skills

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:

• At least one year experience touring in IATSE houses
• Familiarity with IATSE guidelines
• Significant touring experience (tour management an asset)
• Regular driver’s license-- bus or trucking license an asset
• Ability to manage large production budgets
• Ability to manage internal and external crews of varying sizes and abilities
• Superior organizational and multi-tasking skills
• Superior ability to problem-solve and think quickly
• Ability to anticipate and resolve potential issues in advance
• Ability to maintain control despite difficult touring schedule
• Professional demeanour and appearance
• Collaborative approach
• Can-do attitude
• 2nd languages an asset

Salary: Commensurate with experience
