Job Description / Duties

Functions as onsite and/or primarily technical coordinator for assigned projects, under the direction of the TD;
Assist the Technical Director throughout the production process. This includes but is not limited to research, planning, and implementation of lighting, audio, and video requirements.
Produce and maintain AutoCAD drawings for production builds;
Liaise and work with the Rental and Partner Companies to fulfill their technical needs.
Along with the Technical Director, supervise the timely load in/out and successful technical periods of productions at Canadian Stage’s venues.
Assist in generating and distributing the technical schedules for all production spaces.
Assist in establishing the labour requirements for lighting, sound, video and scenic elements for productions as assigned;
Act as a Supervisor for the IATSE Local 58 House crew and casual technicians as required;
Involvement in research, planning, and implementation of production capital projects.
Provide technical support and co-ordination for Canadian Stage events and activities.
Provide technical support and co-ordination for Canadian Stage online programming.
Coordinate the successful recording storage of archival videos.
Maintain Production based inventories and asset tracking.
Create, modify and/or interpret various technical drawings.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Technical Director.
Evening and weekend work is required for this position.

Qualifications / Required Skills

Minimum of 3+ years of professional experience in technical theatre
Some experience as a TD or ATD would be a strong asset
Solid proficiency with AutoCAD
Available to work evenings and weekends;
Experience in the setting and upholding of safety standards in all parts of the venue – from stages, backstage, audience and FOH
An ability to work unsupervised while maintaining goals and an attention to detail;
Experience working in a team-based collaborative environment with a positive attitude to deliver high-quality presentations. Ability to work with diplomacy and tact with a wide range of stakeholders.
Valid Class G Ontario Driver's License
The ability to drive a large cargo van and a 5-ton transport truck (automatic transmission) is an asset;
