Job Description / Duties

Reporting to the Technical Show Manager and working under the supervision of the Head of Sound, you will be required to:

Ensure that sound equipment is set up properly and consistent with the show concept;
Work as a Sound Technician for shows during performances and rehearsals;
Assist with maintenance, repair and modification of sound equipment;
Assist with the maintenance of all technical equipment;
Ensure the safety and security of sound installations at all times;
Adhere to standards and regulations pertaining to the safety of sound equipment and comply with safe working methods;
Work on a rotating schedule with other show technicians (lighting, stage carpentry, rigging, automation);
Assist with the setup and dismantling of all show-related technical equipment;
Assist with setup and tear-down;
Follow and support the equipment and inventory management procedures and requirements as required by Cirque du Soleil. Utilize the tools and procedures provided by IHQ to maintain inventory and equipment data. Follow the requirements detailed for customs and logistics with regards to the transport of material with touring productions;
Carry our all other tasks requested by the Technical Show Manager.

Qualifications / Required Skills

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
College diploma (or equivalent) in live entertainment, theatre production, sound technology or electronics (or equivalent work experience);
A minimum of three years' experience as a Sound Technician;
Good general understanding of all technical aspects of a show an asset;
Personnel management experience an asset;
Knowledge of Microsoft software for Windows;
Flexibility, autonomy, team player;
Good communication skills;
Ability to handle contingencies and work well under pressure;
Fluency in spoken and written English is essential, fluency in French is an asset;
Available to tour full time and to work in foreign countries.
