Job Description:
The Marketing and Communications Manager is a member of the team responsible for all aspects of marketing, publicity and development for MTYP including implementation, and evaluation of programs designed to meet or exceed the theatre’s ticket revenue and attendance goals. The Marketing Manager is responsible for creating and overseeing all marketing campaigns and initiatives as well as supervising the Box Office Manager. Reporting to the Executive Producer, the Marketing and Communications Manager supports the ongoing promotion and publicity of all MTYP programs, including the mainstage season, touring, special events, Theatre School and Aboriginal Arts, fundraising activities, and media, sponsor and community relations. Contribute to development of marketing and communications initiatives to increase single ticket and subscription sales, and enrollment in Theatre School programs.

Primary responsibilities include:
• In concert with the General Manager, Artistic Director and the Board of Directors, develop innovative and aggressive marketing campaigns to promote and publicize the theatre and its related activities, and increase attendance and public awareness throughout the community
• Creation of promotional materials, including posters, brochures and signage for all MTYP programs
• Updating website and social media content; ensuring web content is accurate and current
• Creating and updating in-house displays, including call board for each production
• Prepare for opening night receptions and other events, including shopping, and set up
• Assisting with media relations and creation of media releases
• Shared responsibility in the areas of marketing and development: Database management, mailings, development of -in-house materials
• Obtain media (print/radio/TV) sponsors for each production and special event, maintaining and nurturing these relationships
• Development of post-production packages and press kits as required
• Work with all photographers, designers, printers and contracted services as necessary as well as ensuring the most competitive prices for these services.
• Assist in the preparation of special events, including development of special event programs, and display materials
• Carry out or assist with research concerning markets and fundraising
• Maintain newspaper clipping files and archival media files
• Supervise creation and maintenance of contact databases for Groups Sales and Fund Development, supervise maintenance of accurate patron records and mailing lists
• Other related duties as may be reasonably assigned by the Executive Producer and Board of Directors

Qualifications / Required Skills

• Related university degree or college diploma with a minimum of three years related experience
• Skilled in communications writing
• Strong graphic design skills (working knowledge of CorelDraw, Photoshop), some practical experience of graphic design preferred
• Experience in the not-for-profit and/or arts sector an asset
• Excellent time-management skills
• Previous experience in web content management an asset
• Some administrative experience an asset, e.g. managing databases, creating mailing lists, reconciliation of petty cash
