Job Description / Duties

Nature & Scope of Work
The General Manager, Performing Arts is responsible for the administration and management of the University’s performance facilities including the Performing Arts Theatre, and other performance facilities on campus as required.

The Manager ensures the maximization of the educational value and revenue generating potential of the performance facilities, while providing cost effective management.

The incumbent acts as the liaison between and balances the interests of the stakeholders who use the facilities;
prepares and administers annual and project budgets;
develops, promotes and coordinates the use of the facilities by individuals and groups outside of the University;
develops ongoing community engagement strategies and pursues sponsorships and other funding potential for the North Shore Credit Union Centre for the Performing Arts;
negotiates and concludes contracts with artists, partners and renters;
supervises the Technical Director, the Programming Director and staff;
and verses the smooth operation of the facilities and equipment.

The incumbent reports to the Dean, Fine and Applied Arts.

Qualifications / Required Skills

Required Qualifications & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field such as Fine Arts, Arts and Entertainment Management, or Business
Administration.
• Three to five years experience in the general management of a performing arts theatre of the size and nature of the
University’s performance facilities.
• Three years of professional experience in fund‐raising and development.

Salary: 75,000 +

The North Shore Credit Union Centre for the Performing Arts officially opened in October 1997 as the Capilano College Performing Arts Theatre. In support of the institution's performing arts programs, the 372 seat theatre was built as a much needed performance space designed to nurture and showcase the university's emerging artists.

The centre has evolved to encompass a broad range of artistic programming including the founding and production of several distinct series including the Cap Jazz Series, Cap Global Roots Series, Cap Classical/Choral Series, Cap Theatre Series, Cap Film Series, the North Shore Jazz Series and the Pacific Arbour Speaker Series.

In June 2011, The Capilano Performing Arts Theatre became the North Shore Credit Union Centre for the Performing Arts.
