Job Description / Duties

Reporting to the Supervisor - Theatre, Technical Operations or Coordinator, Theatre Technical, liaise with clients, professionals and community performing arts groups on matters of a technical nature to ensure superior customer service as it relates to load-in, performance set up, running of performances/events and load-out across City theatres and other event locations.

Work with clients, professionals, COB staff and community performing arts groups to ensure a smooth load-in, run and load-out of lighting, sound, rigging, carpentry, video and stage equipment and set-up of the performance.
Operate theatre systems and equipment including, but not limited to, transportation, setup, installation and striking of lighting, sound, rigging, video, carpentry, staging and Stageline mobile stage equipment at City Theatres, production scene shop and other event locations.
Perform preventative and demand maintenance to theatre systems, tools and equipment including lighting, sound, rigging, carpentry, video, staging and Stageline mobile stage while maintaining an inventory of these and all City theatre assets.
Assist with ensuring all Professional Series production requirements are set up including lighting, sound, rigging, carpentry, video, wardrobe and staging as per the rider.
Generate various show related reports and keep maintenance logs.
Provide guidance and training to part time and contract staff for the load-ins, set-ups, running and load-outs of performances and events alongside Technical Stage Hands, Supervisor or Coordinators.
Monitor performances and events to ensure City policies and building security is maintained and contracts are adhered to.
Maintain a safe and clean working environment by sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and removing garbage from stage and surrounding areas.
Design and implement lighting, audio, set and video for various productions and events.
Performs additional related duties as required.

Qualifications / Required Skills

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
Over two (2) years in a performing arts theatre environment with related experience.
Certification in Fall Protection, Lift Operation, WHMIS and First-Aid.
Valid, non-probationary Ontario Class G driver’s license.
Exceptional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with an emphasis on customer service.
Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Must be able to wear and use appropriate personal safety equipment and clothing.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

Additional Information

This is full-time, union position with a 40 hour/ week minimum hour guarantee and opportunity for overtime and shift premiums, including time and a half of Sundays. The compensation package includes an extension benefits program and pension plan.
