Job Description / Duties

Production: Trojan Girls & The Outhouse of Atreus
Producers: Factory Theatre & Outside the March
Location: Factory Theatre 125 Bathurst St Toronto. This position is working onsite both inside the building and outside in the courtyard.

Tech: July 20 - Aug 1
Preview: Aug 2 - 5
Opening: Aug 6
Closing: Aug 28

Reporting to and working in collaboration with Factory’s Production Manager, the Technical Director (TD) will oversee lighting, sound, video, wardrobe, props, site, carpentry and paint planning and execution for the production of “Trojan Girls & The Outhouse of Atreus” being mounted at Factory Theatre.

The TD is responsible, along with Production Management for the technical elements of the production including:

- Costing out shows based on preliminary and final designs, in collaboration with Department Heads and Production Manager
- Tracking and reporting expenses
- Working with team to creatively problem solve technical challenges
- Consulting on Production Schedules and Crew numbers
- Supervising the installation, strike and technical rehearsals with Production Management and responding to technical notes
- Maintaining up to date paper work on actuals
- Participating in the selection of production equipment and site solutions for performance spaces
-Responding to technical notes as needed
-Supervising strike and equipment returns

Qualifications / Required Skills

- A graduate of a recognized theatre program or equivalent professional experience
- Strong knowledge of current theatrical production equipment and processes
- More than five years experience as a TD or PM with a broad working knowledge of all elements of production
- Strong drafting, Vectorworks/Autocad and computer skills
-Experience working with and supervising IATSE crew
- Experience in budget tracking and maintaining material and labour budgets
- Strong interpersonal and leadership abilities; experience managing work crews is an asset
-Experience working in outdoor and unconventional theatrical settings

Additional Information

The Production and Technical Management Team will work together to create sustainable schedules ensuring that all spaces have the necessary support while also ensuring that the team itself is supported as well.

Salary based on approximately:
-ASAP (approx 6 weeks) prep/preproduction
-3 weeks build
-2 weeks of install/technical rehearsal
-1 week Previews
-3 week show run

Salary: 8250
