Job Description / Duties

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The responsibilities include but are not limited to those normally associated with a similar position in other professional Canadian theatre companies.

The Technical Director (TD) will be held responsible for:
● Maintaining a professional working relationship with the Production Manager, stage management, administrative and front of house staff, production staff and visiting creative teams to efficiently deliver all technical requirements for the productions in the season.
● Creating efficient construction and costing analysis of submitted designs on the schedule determined by the Production Manager, and actively participating in the design approval process.
● Efficient and effective coordination, scheduling, staffing, supervising and participation in system installs, load ins, fit-ups, changeovers and strikes.
● Efficient and effective communications with the artistic, design, and production teams normally associated with in-person and virtual meetings, emails, phone calls, shared
schedules, technical drawings, and other methods.
● Working with the Production Manager and Department Heads to effectively allocate available production budgets.
● Ensuring the application of TIP Health and Safety policies and procedures by all production
staff in the two performance venues, and in any and all areas where they are directly and indirectly involved in production work.
● Working with the Production Manager and Operations Manager to accomplish additional tasks and responsibilities that arise in the operations of seasonal performance venues.

Qualifications / Required Skills

REQUIRED SKILLS
● Background and training in lighting, audio and scenic construction normally acquired through 3-5 years of post educational experience
● Excellent problem solving skills
● Working knowledge of Vectorworks, ETC Eos, Qlab, Google Office
● Installation and programming Digico, Ion, ATEM consoles.
● Knowledge of network system Installation and connection.
● Rigging principles and applications.
● Strong team player
● Ability to lift 50 lbs.
● Possess Working at Heights and WHIMIS certification
● Valid G Driver’s License
