Job Description / Duties

The Department of Drama at the University of Saskatchewan invites applications for a tenure-track position in Set Design at the rank of Assistant Professor, effective July 1, 2014.

Interested candidates must provide a letter of application, including a curriculum vitae and a design portfolio and have three confidential letters of recommendation sent on their behalf under separate cover. Application deadline is October 25, 2013, or until position is filled. All supporting material is to be submitted in hardcopy, and not via email.

Qualifications / Required Skills

The successful candidate will have expertise in set, lighting and sound design, a strong teaching record in technical theatre at the post-secondary level, and a substantial professional design portfolio. Experience in props and/or costume design is an asset, as is the demonstrated ability to establish, to monitor, and to work within a production budget. An MFA, or its equivalent in professional theatre experience, is required. The candidate must be capable of teaching undergraduate courses in set design and construction, lighting design, and stage management. S/he will also supervise the design, technical, and stage management aspects of the Department’s Greystone Mainstage season.
