Job Description / Duties
START DATE: August 1, 2025 (negotiable)
SALARY RANGE: $50 - $55K
POSITION OVERVIEW
Tarragon Theatre is currently seeking a highly motivated person with an interest in Tarragon’s rich contribution to Canadian theatre and the arts for over 50 years to join our team as the Facility Manager. We are looking for an individual that will take equal pride in overseeing and maintaining Tarragon’s facility to create a welcoming experience for our patrons, artists, staff, and community at large.
HOURS OF WORK
40 hours per week, exact schedule may vary from week to week. Consistency in scheduling to be mutually agreed to between the individual and Tarragon.
Evenings and weekend hours may be required depending on facility needs.
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Plan, organize, and undertake all facility maintenance activities
- Develop, implement, and monitor maintenance programs and procedures
- Conduct all interior and exterior regular maintenance, including grounds maintenance (garbage, snow removal, leaf removal, general tidying etc.)
- Perform replacement and repairs as appropriate and outside of existing service contracts, for example electrical (change bulbs, etc.) and plumbing (change faucet, unclog drain, etc.)
- Perform general cleaning tasks including vacuuming, general tidying, and garbage/recycling disposal for the whole building including the staff kitchen and theatres
- Oversee and maintain utility and maintenance service contracts, to include HVAC, elevator, pest control, plumbing, electrical, fire systems, etc.
- Schedule annual and monthly maintenance as relates to the physical building and grounds
- Work in conjunction with the Executive Director and Director of Production on the delivery of capital initiatives (i.e. new construction and renovations), energy management, and cost savings programs
- Ensure facility compliance with legislative codes, regulations, and health and safety requirements
- Act as a departmental representative on the Joint Health & Safety Committee
- Work closely with the Executive Director to ensure the facility is maintained to a high standard, including reporting anything in need of repair and acquire approval for purchases in excess of $1,000.00
- Establish and implement preventative maintenance programs within allocated budget
- Manage the facilities budget lines, including tracking all facilities-related spending, reconciling facility accounts monthly, and keeping expenses within the allocated budget
- Manage a petty cash float, including submitting proper expense claim forms
- Purchase general supplies for the building
- Serve as the primary contact on the Tyco and Fire Monitoring call lists
- If deemed necessary, attend Emergency First Aid Training, to be paid for by the Theatre
- Work in conjunction with Tarragon Staff to ensure that events have the necessary operations support
- On the days of events, in conjunction with Tarragon staff, work to ensure that proper set-up, monitoring, and strike of facility equipment and procedures are followed.
- Establish and maintain best practices, policies, and procedures as related to all areas of the facility
Qualifications / Required Skills
QUALIFICATIONS
- Basic repair skills
- General knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, etc.
- A pro-active approach with attention to detail
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Experience with budget management
- Experience developing and maintaining professional relationships
- Ability to perform the physical tasks listed in the job description

COMPENSATION PACKAGE
Salary Range of $50-55K, commensurate with experience
