Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet is currently looking for a School Marketing & Communications Manager.

Summary Statement:
The School Marketing and Communications Manager is responsible for creating, executing and analyzing marketing and communications plans aimed at driving enrollment in Royal Winnipeg Ballet School (RWB School) programs, increasing attendance at school performances and events, and enhancing the school’s profile locally, nationally and internationally. Reporting to the Director of School Operations and working closely with the School Director, the School Marketing and Communications Manager works in concert with Marketing Department to ensure the school’s strategic and business plan objectives are met and that all promotional activities align with RWB brand standards.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Leadership
-Create and execute short and long term marketing and communications plans for the Professional and Recreational Divisions of school, including annual campaign planning targeting enrollment in school programs and ticket sales for school performances and events; 
-Enhance the school’s profile locally, nationally and internationally through a combination of marketing, communications, advocacy and other efforts; 
-Coordinate work back schedules to ensure on time delivery; 
-Analyze the effectiveness and return on investment of all marketing and communications activities, provide recommendations for improvement, and seek out opportunities for increased revenue generation; 
-Communicate the RWB mission, RWB School vision and the Professional and Recreational Division mandates to all internal and external stakeholders and model behaviors that align with the RWB leadership charter; 
-Contribute to good interdepartmental communications and interpersonal relationships and work collaboratively with cross-functional partners in production, artistic and administration; 
Manage the allocation of human capital and financial resources for the production of all school marketing and communications initiatives; 
-Identify, develop and help nurture relationships with external stakeholders such as suppliers, vendors and community partners; 
-Actively participate in school activities and attend and support school performances and events, representing the school internally and in the community. 

Marketing
-Ensure that all print materials and advertising initiatives are prepared and executed according to the schedule outlined in the marketing plan; 
-Work with the Graphic Designer to create and edit marketing materials including posters, flyers, programs, advertising, etc. and develop a process for quality assurance so as to ensure accuracy of information and the inclusion of all key elements; 
-Work with the Marketing Department on the coordination of photo calls and other imagery requirements including engaging photographers and videographers; 
-Manage the advertising buy; 
-Provide input and assistance with annual budget development; 
-Monitor all marketing expenditures and provide accurate reporting on a monthly basis; 
-Work with the campaign Coordinator on the coordination of all School campaigns ensuring the successful delivery of School programs; 
-Research local, national and international markets and conduct competitor analyses; 
-Work with the Box Office Manager to ensure appropriate pricing and scaling of school performances and events, as well as in the management of front of house activities and overall patron experience; 
-Work with the Box Office Manager to develop and sell school merchandise; 
-Work with the School Office Supervisor to ensure appropriate pricing of school tuition, Residence and other fees as well as in the management of School Office customer service and the overall student/parent experience; 
-Work with the Development Department on marketing for school fundraising initiatives. 

Communications
-Create internal and external communications, style and branding guidelines for the school, in collaboration with the Director of Marketing and Communications; 
-Collaborate with the Professional and Recreational Division Principals as well as the Dean of Residence on monthly newsletters and other regular updates; 
-Contribute to the preparation of school grant applications and reports; 
-Contribute to the preparation of RWB annual reports; 
-Work with the Public Relations Coordinator and/or the Communications Coordinator to ensure that press releases and public service announcements, media calls, and event listings are created and distributed in a timely fashion and that advance stories are pitched to media outlets according to the communications plan; 
-Work with the Online Marketing Coordinator to create and publish website content, social media content, online advertising and e-blast communications according to the communications plan; 
-Collaborate with the Multimedia Communications Coordinator on the creation of video and other multi-media content according to the communications plan; 
-Work with the Public Relations Coordinator and/or the Communications Coordinator to write repertoire, biography, synopsis descriptions and speaking notes. 

Working conditions:
The School Marketing and Communications Manager works closely under the supervision of the School Director of Operations. Success of this position requires ongoing communication with internal and external stakeholders, flexibility with changing/shifting priorities, and timely decision making.

Qualifications / Required Skills

Education and Qualifications:
3+ years of marketing and communications experience
University or college degree/diploma in marketing, communications, business, or performing arts.
Project Management and Project Support experience in:
Project documentation, project briefs and end stage reports;
Project planning and resource allocation and monitoring; 
Project communications, checkpoint meetings, and communications plans;
Stakeholder engagement; managing project teams, both internal staff and external suppliers
Experience in estimating and budget management; developing and monitoring a department budget
Experience with the Tessitura relationship management database and/or a similar database system an asset
Experience in the arts and cultural sector and/or an interest in ballet an asset
Clear Criminal Record and Child Abuse Registry check
