Job Description / Duties

Reporting to the Secretary Treasurer of the Coquitlam School District, the Manager of Theatre Operations shall be accountable for the overall operation, use and management of the theatre according to the school district policies and within the scope and spirit of the school district Operating Agreement with the City of Port Coquitlam.
As the theatre’s key representative and first point of contact, the Manager of Theatre Operations will display a passion for the arts; progressive, strong, creative, professional and customer-focused leadership skills; and, a commitment to establishing the Terry Fox Secondary School Theatre as the best choice in the area for school, community, business and performing arts groups.
The Manager is charged with developing an effective economic operating model for the theatre which balances both school and community use of the theatre. The Manager represents the Terry Fox Secondary School Theatre through leadership and participation in community activities. The Manager must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with municipal and school officials, media, artists, artistic managers, other arts groups, local schools, volunteers and patrons.

Qualifications / Required Skills

Required Education and Experience
•A Bachelor Degree in Arts, Business, Recreation or a suitable combination of education, training and/or experience in the arts and theatre management with an emphasis on theatre management skills and experiences and technical background in performance staging;
•Ability to work effectively within a high school setting and with community arts groups and organizations;
•Excellent verbal and written communication; grant and report writing; fundraising; meeting facilitation; community liaison;
•Proficiency in computer use and sector-related software and programs;
•Proven experience working with school district/school leadership and community groups
