Job Description / Duties

Key activities:

Reporting to the Director of Production Operations, the Manager, Production Services is responsible for the planning, development, and implementation of projects and services that support live performance production, along with the maintenance of performance venues and support spaces to ensure the best possible working environment for the artists and guests of the National Arts Centre. The candidate will also be responsible for coordination of access to performance and production spaces with other departments, health and safety in the workplace, sourcing and procurement of equipment and material, and other administrative and support functions. The candidate will also be involved in the coordination of production department projects as they relate to the NAC’s Architectural Rejuvenation project.

Qualifications / Required Skills

-Thorough knowledge and of current theatrical practices, processes and equipment;
-Demonstrated ability to coordinate and deliver multiple concurrent projects within schedule and financial constraints;
-Superior analytical and problem solving skills;
-In-depth knowledge of the use of computers and software in the performing arts, as well as a fundamental working knowledge of Microsoft Office and AutoCAD;
-Superior decision making and organizational skills that support the tasks at hand;
-Supervisory and teamwork experience in a unionized performing arts environment;
-Capacity to work effectively with artists and clients with diverse experience and levels of skill;
-Minimum of 5 years’ experience at a managerial level in the performing arts;
-Demonstrated initiative and sound judgement;
-Complete familiarity with all applicable codes, regulations and legislative requirements;
-Excellent knowledge of health and safety codes and theatrical best practices;
-Bilingualism is an asset.
