Job Description / Duties

• Ensure smooth operation of shows and technical rehearsals.
• Maintain or facilitate the maintenance of all lighting, video and related equipment in a manner that minimizes the loss of time during set up, rehearsal and performances.
• In cooperation with the Technical Director, maintain an up-to-date inventory of equipment.
• Participate in the selection of equipment, the planning of long-term improvements and long-term maintenance.
• Supervise the lighting hang, focus and cueing sessions and maintain the integrity of the design
during the run of the show.

Qualifications / Required Skills

• Demonstrated knowledge of current lighting control systems such as ETC ION console andlighting systems.
• Understanding of basic electrics, dimmers, DMX, and networking.
• Must possess working knowledge of stage carpentry and rigging to assist the Master Carpenter and Head of Sound when required.
• Ability to read technical drawings and related specifications.
• Must be comfortable working at height and on ladders.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Experience in lighting design is an asset.
• Experience working with pyrotechnics and special effects is an asset.
• Experience troubleshooting, repairing, and soldering cables and connectors is an asset.
• Training/certification in Fall Protection and Working at Heights is an asset.
• First Aid certification is an asset.

Additional Information

$25.02/hour with seasonal increases as per the IATSE Collective Agreement. MTC offers a comprehensive group benefit plan and group retirement plan, to which this position is eligible to
participate in.

Following the completion of a satisfactory performance reflection at the end of this engagement, this position is eligible for recall on subsequent seasons.

This position requires a 6-day work week (40 hours/week) plus overtime during the scheduled season from September to May. As a result, vacation time is difficult to schedule during the season. Any time off must be approved in advance by the Director of Production.
