Job Description / Duties

The Deputy Head of Staging (Deputy) is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations for the Staging team. They are also the subject matter expert supporting the Event Operations department in short to mid-term scoping and technical questions relating to Staging.

This role provides leadership in the delivery of technical services, by assisting in the development of systems and standards that are customer focused, in order to support performers to achieve excellence.

The Deputy supports the Head of Staging to foster a culture of continuous learning, personal development, and technical excellence.

The successful candidate will ensure compliance with relevant technical and WHS standards and contribute to the ongoing development of WHS awareness at Sydney Opera House.

Qualifications / Required Skills

• A minimum of 2-years’ experience in managing technical staff in a fast-paced environment.
• A high level of technical expertise, plus comprehensive skills and at least 5-years’ experience in all aspects of Staging, including:
o All aspects of Staging design and operations, including stage machinery systems and control, rigging, use of EWP’s and other plant
o Ability to interpret, create and modify technical drawings and design files
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in staff rostering and operational planning.
• Demonstrated high level leadership skills, including a track record of event delivery and a thorough knowledge of supervisory responsibilities under WHS and wellbeing.
• Excellent communication, team building and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent organisational, analytical and decision-making skills.
• The ability to work efficiently under pressure and prioritise work in a fast-paced environment, while also maintaining key long-term deliverables.
• Flexibility and commitment to continuous improvement.

Salary: Base salary of $114,994 AUD per annum, plus 10.5% superannuation contributions
