Job Description / Duties

The Opportunity:

Leading a dedicated team comprised of 3 full time employees, and a combination of part time/casual employees, contractors and volunteers to deliver a wide range of services and programs. The ideal candidate will be experienced working with a variety of stakeholders and can foster positive relationships through partnerships and collaboration.

The ideal candidate has experience in overseeing a community performing arts venue, working with professional artists, community organizations and providing leadership to a diverse team. The Team Leader role is responsible for planning and booking seasonal programming and sourcing other revenue opportunities. They will provide oversight of all day to day operations as well as carrying out front of house coordination during presented professional artist’s shows. As the Team Leader of the Bert Church Theatre you will develop and implement systems and processes to successfully deliver all aspects of the operations and work within the governing agreements to ensure that the facility is maintained and life cycled. The theatre tends to operate in a couple of cycles with fairly intense use during the spring, followed by a steady rhythm of day time programming in the summer and a balance of professional artists throughout fall and winter.

Qualifications / Required Skills

You Bring:

Post-secondary degree in Fine Arts, Public Management, Business or other related degree.

5 years of proven progressive responsibility for oversight and management of a performing arts venue or similar facility.

3- 5 years of demonstrated experience leading a team of employees, with proven ability to positively influence others.

Experience in creating seasonal programs that connect to community interests.

5 years of experience managing and overseeing operating and capital budgets.

Experience using municipal budgeting, accounting and reporting software is an asset.

Well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to form collaborative relationships.

Genuine desire to mentor and support staff.

Exemplary customer service, planning, programming and organizational skills.

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including policy development, report preparation and public presentation skills.

Demonstrated ability to handle a variety of complex projects/tasks with competing priorities in a results based environment.

Additional Information:

This full time (37.5 hour per week) position will also require presence at evening Council meetings, various committees, performance series and special events during evenings and weekends.

Our Team:

The Bert Church Live Theatre is an intimate 375 seat preforming arts theatre with multi use lobby space that is situated in the heart of a community hub, which is defined by a high school and Airdrie’s largest multi-use recreation facility, Genesis Place.

While the theatre auditorium is utilized by the High School for educational purposes during daytime, the community of Airdrie enjoys all the theatre has to offer in the evenings and weekends. The dedicated and experienced theatre team is tasked with balancing the needs of the community through an annual schedule which includes; a variety of presented professional artists, facility rentals that facilitate third party productions and high quality programming.
