Job Description / Duties

This is a seasonal contract position that typically extends from September through May (30-35 weeks).

Reporting to the Technical Director, the Assistant Technical Director is responsible for aiding in the planning, management, and supervision of all technical elements of productions, presentations, and related activities assigned, for the daily operations of Royal MTC. They will maintain a high level of artistic integrity, safety and foster an appropriate working environment for artistic and production personnel.
The start date has some flexibility but ideally would be August 29, 2022.

Responsibilities:
• Supporting the Technical Director in scheduling, costing, managing and executing all phases of production, including design, construction, rehearsals and performance.
• Supporting the Technical Director and various departments (Set, Scenic Art, Props, Wardrobe and Stage) in executing productions.
• Sourcing materials and managing equipment rentals.
• Supporting the Technical Director in drafting ground plans, section and construction drawings.
• Maintaining inventories for various production departments.
• Arrange and perform the pick-up of production supplies when needed, including driving the production truck.
• Based on a 40-hour work week with fluctuating hours during tech weeks. Weekend availability a must during the span of contract (September – May).

Qualifications / Required Skills

Qualifications
• A graduate of a recognized theatre program or equivalent professional experience
• Strong knowledge of current theatrical production equipment and processes
• Strong drafting, Vectorworks and computer skills
• Strong interpersonal and leadership abilities; experience managing crews is an asset
• Ability to assess, ensure and promote health and safety in all areas (including respectful workplace conditions
• Valid Drivers License

Salary: • Weekly salary range $875 to $975, depending on experience
