Job Description / Duties

The Faculty of Arts is seeking an experienced Production and Operations Manager for a full-time appointment as an Academic Department Manager (ADM) in the Faculty of Arts. This position will tentatively start on August 15, 2021 and serve the area of Fine Arts, including the Departments of Drama, Music and ART & Design. The Production and Operations ADM provides leadership to students, faculty and staff through resource management, facilities management, and production management for ART & Design, Drama and Music productions and performances. The Production and Operations ADM reports to the department’s Faculty General Manager, and is tasked with supporting the Chairs of Drama, Art & Design and Music in the execution of their department missions. They will contribute to department research and evolving practices in music and theatre, and will share in the collective day-to-day administration of the departments.

The position’s areas of responsibility include:

- Production Management
- Human Resource Management
- Facility Management
- Financial Management
- Risk Management

Qualifications / Required Skills

- A minimum of 5 years of professional experience as a Production Manager and/or Technical Director in medium to large scale regional producing theatres
- An undergraduate degree is required; a degree in theatre is strongly preferred
- An MFA or BFA in Production Management or Technical Theatre is an asset
- Demonstrated advanced capacity with systems and tools such as Excel and AutoCAD are essential, Database query tools (Tableau), budget tools (UPlan), and PeopleSoft (Finance, HCM, Campus Solutions) would be an asset
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with team members from different areas of expertise, and with senior administrators in an organization
- Training and experience in project management, business process review, and change management in large scale and complex work settings
