Job Description / Duties

The Lead Venue AV Technician is a full time position with EPiQVision Inc., working at one of the companies hotel properties in downtown Toronto who reports directly to Operations Manager, Technical Events. The primary function of this position is to set up, operate, and dismantle the audio-visual needs for the events, specifically with a stronger experience and knowledge background operating audio and video for conferences and private events and acting as the lead AV technician for larger setups. This position is an integral part of the AV team as they work closely with clients, event management and operations teams at the venue.


- Provide technical support during setups, events, and strikes
- Lead crew on setups and dismantles of larger events
- Assist with maintaining a strong system of organization and maintenance of in-house equipment
- Provide accurate and efficient operation of audiovisual equipment including Audio, Video, and Lighting systems
- Troubleshoot and problem solve equipment errors and software issues
- Ensure event setups are clean and tidy (cables hidden and properly wrapped, for the corporate look)
- Respond and confirm that you have received and understand all the information given to you for all the events you are involved with
- Read equipment Pull Sheets/Manifests and ensure all gear has been accounted for
- Assist with loading and unloading of audiovisual equipment from loading dock
- Assist with proper security, storage, transportation and maintenance of equipment
- Portray a polished professional image to meet company dress code requirements
- Responsible for front of the line customer service and interaction with clients, venue partners and other vendors as needed
- Inform the EPiQVision Inc. Operations Manager, Technical Events of any event emergencies, set backs, unresolved issues, and last minute client requests
- Comply with all venue and EPiQVision Inc. policies and procedures
- Perform other duties as required

Qualifications / Required Skills

- Post Secondary degree or diploma
- 1 to 3 years of industry related experience as an AV Technician and Operator
- Experience working in a hotel and/or convention centre environment is preferred
- Experience managing a team and crew during setups and dismantles
- Technical knowledge of Audio, Video, Projection, Lighting, Rigging, and Computer Equipment
- Proficiency with MS Office and Google Drive
- Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical members of the organization
- Demonstrated aptitude for learning new technologies
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- A creative thinker and has the ability to think outside the box
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
- High level of integrity and work ethic
- Ability to prioritize and manage conflicting demands
- Demonstrated time management skills
- Ability to work individually as well as part of a team
- Excellent internal and external customer service skills
- Working at heights and lift ticket certification are an asset
- Work experience using Allen & Heath QU or SQ series digital consoles is an asset
- Work experience mixing live bands and using multiple wireless microphones is an asset
- Work experience using Roland XS-1 or V-800 switchers is an asset
- Work experience using Chamsys QuickQ20, Martin M2GO, or Grand MA lighting consoles is an asset
- Knowledge of current Safety Guidelines for the Live Performance Industry in Ontario is an asset
- Knowledge of current municipal, provincial, and federal workplace health & safety regulations is an asset
- Knowledge of current Fire and Building Codes is an asset
- Knowledge of current ESA, AODA, OHSA is an asset

Salary: $22-$28/hour, based on experience.
