Job Description / Duties

POSITION DETAILS

The Grand Theatre is looking for an assistant technical director to help in the creation of our 2021-22 season.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Supporting the Production Manager and Technical Director in scheduling, costing, managing and executing all phases of production, including design, construction, rehearsals and performance.
• Supporting the Technical Director and various departments (Set, Scenic Art, Props, Wardrobe and Stage) in executing productions.
• Sourcing build materials and managing equipment rentals.
• Supporting the Technical Director in drafting ground plan, section and construction drawings.
• Advancing Incoming Rental shows and events in conjunction with the Rentals Coordinator.
• Coordinating staffing for the Auburn Development Stage, for both Grand and rental events.
• Maintaining inventories for various production departments.
• Assisting operations managers with setting up technical equipment such as projectors and microphones for small event
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications / Required Skills

SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES
• Post-secondary degree related to theatre production and/or equivalent professional experience in technical theatre
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Team player with a positive attitude
• Quick learner with the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
• Curious, self-motivated and able to work independently as well as follow instructions
• A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
• Proficiency in AutoCad and/or Vectorworks
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
• Working at Heights training considered an asset.
