Job Description / Duties

The role of the Accountant is to handle the accounting function for the administrative side of the organisation. This includes Revenue Recognition, Accounts Payable, Payroll and Monthly balance sheet reconciliations.

Duties and responsibilities:

•Revenue Entry for Tickets sales and Donations to Theatre Calgary
•Monthly General Ledger Accounts Reconciliations and working papers
•GST reconciliations and Quarterly Returns
•Periodic reporting on the usage of Grant Revenue
•Online Subsidy applications
•AGLC annual reporting and General Ledger entries relating to these funds
•Administration Accounts Payable
•Execution of the Weekly Accounts Payable Pay run.
•Semi-monthly administration payroll, production and distribution of T4’s, T4A’s and T4A-NR’s annually.
•Weekly Administration Payroll
•Processing of Employee Expenses
•Audit Preparation as Required
•Other General Journal Entries as needed.
•Other duties as specified by the Director of Finance and Administration

Qualifications / Required Skills

Experience and Qualifications:

•Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
•Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
•Prior equivalent General Ledger experience preferably in the not for profit industry.
•High level of competence with Microsoft Office Suite.
•Experience working with Xero and Tessitura an asset.
•Ability to work on your own initiative and challenge existing processes to promote efficiency.

Additional Information

Working conditions:

Long periods sitting at a desk. 40 hour week, flexible hours with core hours of (10:00 – 2:00pm)

After initial probationary period employees will be eligible to join our group RRSP plan with employer matching and comprehensive healthcare program.

Salary: $60,000 - $70,000 Annual Salary
