CITT/ICTS Education Commission

Meeting / Roundtable

CITT/ICTS is in the process of re-instituting the Education Commission.

Rooted in the legacy of Education Forums that began in 2003 and revitalized through the Education Roundtable in 2020 (held online via Zoom, recordings are available to CITT/ICTS Members), the Commission offers a formal and sustainable platform for educators, professionals, and students to engage in open dialogue, share resources, and shape the future of theatre production and design education.

The Commission seeks to define and uphold national standards while promoting a shared vision for training and professional development. Participation from across the country will help ensure that the commission can advocate for programs at risk, support institutions facing challenges, and provide a space for transparent discussion around oversight and systemic issues. By facilitating resource sharing and networking, the Commission can strengthen connections across the sector and encourage collaboration among educators and institutions nationwide. The commission can have an impact on strengthening training programs and creating meaningful opportunities for student engagement and mentorship. Through these efforts, the Education Commission aims to ensure the continued relevance, accessibility, and innovation of theatre production education in Canada.

Presenter: Andrea Lundy (she/her), CITT/ICTS Secretary

Andrea is an award-winning Lighting Designer and Production Manager as well as the Director of the Production Design and Technical Arts Program at the National Theatre School of Canada. As a lighting designer she is the recipient of 9 Dora Mavor Moore Awards and 2 Montreal English Theatre Awards for Outstanding Lighting Design. She has worked extensively with Necessary Angel Theatre, the National Arts Centre, Shaw Festival, Tarragon Theatre, Soulpepper Theatre, Canadian Stage, Centaur Theatre, Geordie Theatre, among others. Andrea is the Secretary on the National Board of Directors at CITT/ICTS and Vice-President of the SMarts Board of Directors.
