Out of the box thinking and best practices

Roundtable Discussion

Roundtable Discussion about best practices and practical ideas for overcoming the problems that exist in venues that are located in less populated areas. (ie. finding and training staff, lack of easily accessible rentals/crew, extended timelines on shipping, touring group advancing, local group best practices, etc.)

After attending this presentation, attendees will be able to take home a few ideas about how to manage their regional spaces better technically and staffing/training/employee retention wise.

We want a discussion for the big spaces in small places to be heard and learn from each others successes and failures. We're looking to share practical solutions with each other and learn how other regional theatres have tried tackling the problems we all share.

Date, Time & Location: Thursday August 17, 2023 | 15:00 - 17:00 EDT | Meridian Hall - Castlepoint Lounge

Co-Technical Directors Jody and Jordan have been running the Vernon and District Performing Arts Centre since 2022. They have overseen multiple system upgrades, employee training and staffing upgrades, a busy 270 days per year schedule of shows, as well as having survived a major water deluge curtain flood since they took over the reigns. Having over 40 years of combined experience between the two of them, at home and abroad, Jordan and Jody bring a wealth of lived experience to this workshop and are excited to discuss the best practices of regional venues with their contemporaries.
