Javid Butler outlines the new TSP project, E1.68, which will create a recommended practice identifying parts of the ANSI E1.11 (DMX512-A) protocol that are critical for interoperability, helping to slay the dragons that keep equipment from different manufacturers from working with each other.

• Ed Condit describes “Automatic External Defibrillators—a Life-Saving Tool to Have on Hand.” With our industry’s frequent use and exposure to portable electrical equipment in remote and challenging locations, an AED could save a life.

• Bob Goddard discusses the important of testing your equipment to be DMX512 (E1.11), RDM (E1.20), and sACN (E1.31) compliant. Today’s complex lighting systems, particularly architainment systems, require a more accurate understanding of both DMX and RDM before you purchase and/or arrive in the field.

• The Shadow, Light, and Truth column by Richard Cadena embraces the “love them or hate them” intricacies of LEDs.

• Eddie Raymond’s Take Away column challenges readers with “What’s the Worst That Could Happen?” The question that always needs to be asked first.

• Tom Siko returns with his Business Dynamics column mining information about your prospect’s Budget, Authority, Needs, and Timeframe in his “BANT” selling process. A great read for managers and all levels of sales people as well.
