The Vancouver International Dance Festival is pleased to announce the inauguration of a biennial Larisa Fayad Memorial Award. In loving memory of Larisa Fayad, her friends and family have established the Larisa Fayad Memorial Fund to carry on Larisa’s work and aspirations in the field of lighting design.
1. From this fund, an award of $1,500.00 will be dispersed every two years, commencing during the 2010 Vancouver International Dance Festival.
2. Applications will be accepted between December 15th, 2009 and January 31st, 2010.
3. Applicants for the award must be either students who are pursuing lighting design as a course of study or emerging lighting designers in need of assistance to pursue their careers in lighting design.
4. Applications will be judged based on demonstration of:

a. grades
b. professional or scholastic recommendations
c. financial need
d. a portfolio of work
e. a written statement about the applicant’s personal ambition as a lighting designer and how this grant would be applied toward that goal
5. The successful applicant will be selected by a committee of professionals convened by the Board of Directors of the Vancouver International Dance Festival.
6. The successful applicant will be notified during February 2010, and the award will be delivered to the recipient on‐stage during the VIDF 10th Anniversary Gala, to be held Thursday, March 11, 2010.
