TORONTO, Ont., – June 14, 2016 – Actra Fraternal Benefit Society (AFBS) has generously contributed $100,000 in 2016 to help entertainment professionals in need through the work of The AFC – the lifeline for Canada’s entertainment industry. AFBS is Canada's only national insurance and investment provider established and owned by Canadian performers and screenwriters and has been a supporter of The AFC for over 22 years.

AFBS President and CEO Robert Underwood is proud that AFBS can give back to the entertainment community by helping those professionals who are facing crisis situations which threaten their health, dignity or ability to work. “Part of the mission of AFBS is to support the general and economic welfare of artists in Canada and contributing to The AFC is an important part of that,” Underwood said. “The AFC is truly a lifeline for our members, and other entertainment professionals, facing financial difficulties due to injury, illness or other personal hardship.” Executive Director of The AFC David Hope adds “The AFC is an expression of the community’s good will, made possible only by the generous contributions of individual donors and organizations like AFBS.
