“Digital Consoles for Old Theatre Analog Road Dogs”
Thursday Octobre 30, 2014 - 7:00 p.m.
The York Theatre, 639 Commercial Drive, Vancouver, BC
Are you now or have you ever been interested in how a digital console can rock your analog world? This very special seminar will answer many questions and provide insight in a collegial atmosphere.
The first half of our session will focus on the basic functionality and operation of three of the industries more popular digital console brands (Yamaha PM5D, Digidesign Venue and Digico SD9).
Our host, Clive Alcock, will focus on the basic similarities in operation and functionality of these three digital consoles used frequently in theatre productions. Clive is currently mixing FOH for Diana Krall and Loreena McKennitt. He has extensive knowledge of theatre systems from his background in systems design and installations in many western Canadian theatres.
The second half of the session will offer attendees the opportunity to explore one or more of the consoles on a “hands on basis”. Panel guests will be available to offer training and show specific functions, on each of the three consoles.
The BC Section is happy to welcome Rob Nevalainen, and Shawn Hines to our panel, along with Clive Alcock.
About the Panelists:
Rob Nevalainen has mixed monitors for Bryan Adams throughout his career. At the same time, his company Gearforce has been offering support to touring acts and theatres with premium equipment for years. Gearforce also offers Avid Certification to technicians across Canada.
Shawn Hines has worked with GerrAudio over the past 17 years of his career. As the product representative for the Digico product line, he will be showing features of the DiGiCo SD9.
In conjunction with the console “hands on”, Fred Michael will be able to offer guests a tour of the control and audio systems installed in the venue. Fred’s integration company was awarded the installation of the sound and control systems in the York Theatre. Fred has been a part our industry for decades. His company Rocky Mountain Sound needs no introduction. Recently, Fred has joined forces with Allstar Pacific Integrated Media Solutions in Vancouver.
We look forward to seeing you at the York – please let us know you’re coming by RSVP to
