CITT/ICTS RENDEZ-VOUS 2016

In less than a month, CITT/ICTS members will gather in Winnipeg for the 26th Rendez-vous Annual Conference and Trade Show. Over the following weeks leading to the event, we will showcase some of the sessions programmed throughout the conference.
The conference kicks off on Wednesday August 17 opening night with the Meet & Greet and the return of Junk Challenge at the RMCT Warehouse. The New Product Breakfast on Thursday morning at the Centennial Concert Hall will feature the latest novelties from corporate members exhibiting at the trade show. The first sessions taking place on Thursday morning include these exciting off-site activities:

2TRASH OR NOT TO 2TRASH: Integrating Sustainability into your Scene Shop, at the scene shop of the John Hirsch Mainstage RMTC
We are pleased to welcome scenic designer Pegi Marshall from California to share her project 2Trash or not 2Trash. The goal of her presentation is to introduce the "2 Trash or Not 2 Trash" approach of adding sustainability to scene shop practices. In the session, attendees will learn about the evolution of her project, challenges and solutions, and available resources, as well as how to get started using the 2 Trash or not 2 Trash - "2T or N2T" toolkit. Take note that a 2T or N2T toolkit (see below) will be auctioned off at the Swag Bingo Auction!

Dans moins d'un mois, les membres de CITT/ICTS se réuniront à Winnipeg pour le 26e Rendez-vous–conférence annuelle et salon. Au cours des semaines menant à l'événement, nous présenterons quelques-uns des ateliers qui sont programmés tout au long de la conférence.
La conférence débutera le mercredi 17 août avec la soirée d’ouverture au RMCT Tom Hendry Warehouse, où auront lieu la réception d’accueil et le Défi Bric-à-Brac. Le petit-déjeuner des nouveaux produits se tiendra le jeudi 18 au Centennial Concert Hall et présentera les dernières nouveautés des membres corporatifs exposant au salon. Suivront, en matinée, les premiers ateliers, incluant ces activités hors-site:

JETER OU NE PAS JETER: comment intégrer le développement durable dans votre atelier scénique à l’atelier scénique de la salle John Hirsh MainStage, au RMCT
Nous sommes fiers d’accueillir Pegi Marshall, de Californie, pour présenter son projet : «2Trash or Not 2Trash» (Jeter ou ne pas jeter). Cet atelier vise à démontrer l’ajout de pratiques durables dans un atelier scénique. Les participants apprendront davantage sur l'évolution de ce projet, sur les défis et solutions et sur les ressources disponibles. Ils découvriront aussi comment utiliser la boîte à outils « 2T or N2T ». Prenez note qu’une boîte à outils (voir photo ci-dessous) sera aux enchères à l’encan Bingo Butin!

The tour includes the lobby, in-house, back stage, orchestra playing level, pit, seat equipment, full transformation demonstration of flat to auditorium, control system, technical overview, operations and coordination of events and time for questions.
There will also be a presentation on efficiency and sustainability for performing arts centres: a look into what future venues can do to run effective multiple events to fulfill their missions with long term sustainability.
Shuttle will be provided to and from the venue.

La visite comprend le foyer, la salle, l’arrière-scène, l'aire de jeu de l’orchestre, la fosse, les équipements des fauteuils, une démonstration de transformation complète de configuration à plat à auditorium, le système de contrôle, une présentation technique ainsi que des opérations et de la coordination des événements et une période pour les questions.
Suivra une présentation sur l’efficacité des salles de spectacle : un regard sur les lieux de rencontre suffisamment flexibles pour que s’y déroulent efficacement une multitude d’événements en tenant compte de leur mission et en visant leur longévité.
Une navette sera disponible pour l’aller et le retour.

UV PAINT WORKSHOP, at the paint shop of the John Hirsch Mainstage RMTC
Jenny Knott, scenic paint and coating product manager at Rosco presents a 2-part (over 2 days) hands-on workshop on using UV paints in a non-traditional way. Participants will be using glazes and layering under a UV light fixture to create special effects on muslin.
Each participant will experiment with color combinations to create a small 2'x3' sample. When completed, the paintings will be viewed under different UV light fixtures to reveal the challenge of painting under one type of light and viewing on stage under a different instrument.
Material is included, and you can bring your own brushes!
More sessions are offered during the 3-day conference, as well as the CITT/ICTS AGM and awards banquet, social events, networking opportunities.

ATELIER DE PEINTURE UV, à l'atelier de peinture de la salle John Hirsch MainStage, au RMCT
Jenny Knott, gérante des produits de peinture et revêtements scéniques chez Rosco présente un atelier pratique en deux parties (sur deux jours) sur l'utilisation de peintures UV de manière non-traditionnelle. Les participants utiliseront les glaçures et la superposition sous un appareil d'éclairage UV pour créer des effets spéciaux sur mousselines.
Ils expérimenteront les combinaisons de couleurs pour créer un petit échantillon de 2’ x 3’. Une fois terminées, les peintures seront observées sous différents luminaires UV pour révéler l’effet qu’a la peinture sous un type de lumière donné et visualisées sur scène sous différents projecteurs. Le matériel est inclus et apportez vos pinceaux!
D’autre ateliers seront offerts au cours de la conférence de trois jours, en plus de l’AGA et du banquet des prix CITT/ICTS, des événements sociaux et des occasions de réseautage.
