Job Description / Duties

Purpose of Position:
Reporting to the Technical Director/Production Manager, the Lighting/Video Operator-Technician will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the lighting and video equipment in the Museum’s auditorium for all live and filmed events.

Key Responsibilities:
• Ensure that the lighting in the Auditorium is in good working order.
• Be responsible for the operation of the audio visual components (projector, switcher, cameras, patching) of the Auditorium.
• Ensure that the focus of the Auditorium’s lighting is for the day’s live events.
• Ensure that the Lighting Console is properly programmed for the live events and shows planned for the day.
• Assist in the testing and focus of the Auditorium projector.
• Assist in the load in/out of performing arts events.
• Assist in the setting up and dismantling of staging and gear.
• Assist in the installation of the lighting of the gallery spaces.

Qualifications / Required Skills

• Minimum 3 years of lighting and video experience in a not for profit organization, preferably in the arts and culture sector.
• A highly qualified lighting operator/technician, who is trained and experienced in the following fields:
- Lighting console programing and operation for conventional and automated fixtures.
- ETC Ion console.
- Web casting.
- Dimming systems.
- Basic Rigging.
- Audio Visual and its components (video patching).
- Theatrical Lighting.
- Basic theatrical/ live audio.
- Live switching and camera operation.
- Stage/Deck management.
- Power/ load calculations (Electrical Theory)
• Fall arrest certified and WHMIS certified; aerial lift tickets will be advantageous.
• Flexible work hours will be a requirement.
• Ability to lift in excess of 45lbs safely.
