Job Description / Duties

Position Summary:
The Director of Sales & Marketing (DSM) is responsible for the sales department activities, driving sales revenue, managing client and venue relations, and related sales performance. The DSM will form strategic selling and large account plans within the corporate and social event sales model for preparing and finalizing AV quotes for corporate and private events based on the clients vision, timeline, and budget. They will monitor sales in relation to financial goals, prepare and deliver sales materials, focus on building long-term, value-based customer relationships that enable achievement of the companies’ sales objectives, and provide day to day leadership to members of the sales team to achieve property and staging sales objectives.

They will also implement the company’s brand service first strategy and brand initiatives in all aspects of the marketing process, manage the marketing budget to enable development of company and venue specific campaigns, promotions, and collateral to drive revenue and meet marketing objectives, and provide day to day leadership to members of the marketing and social media teams.

With the current situation surrounding COVID-19, the successful candidate will need to have the ability to work remotely (from home) majority of the time and be able to attend weekly meetings at the company head office in Toronto as required until it is safe to resume working full-time from our company head office.

Job Duties:
- Manage, train, and mentor all members of the sales and marketing/social media teams
- Develop, manage, and nurture new business accounts and partnerships to accomplish profit and volume goals
- Assign clients and projects to members of the sales team as required
- Assign projects and tasks to members of the marketing and social media team teams as required
- Maintain professional conduct and appearance at all times
- Maintain a cooperative and sensitive teamwork attitude when dealing with clients
- Connect with clients and planners to initialize the conversation of their audio-visual requirements for their event
- Build strong internal relationships between the company and its clients
- Promote and maintain the organization's brand image and identity within the marketplace and on social media
- Create and update quotes for events
- Assist in the creation of RFPs
- Accurately forecast annual, quarterly, and monthly revenue streams
- Represent the company externally in an effective manner. Determine appropriate trade show and other sales & marketing development event participation
- Attend venue BEO and onsite meetings as required
- Attend department and other company meetings as required
- Coordinate with venue management and sales team to setup site visits for the clients
- Work with venue sales and marketing teams to develop new mutually beneficial sales and marketing strategies
- Coordinate with EPiQVision production and operations teams to confirm audio-visual details, venue and event specific requests
- Meet with subordinates minimum every 6 months to discuss their performance and progress
- Provide coaching and issue verbal warnings to employees working under your supervision as required
- Other duties as required by company

Qualifications / Required Skills

Requirements:
- Post-secondary education in event production, event management, hospitality, or business management
- Minimum 5 years experience in event management, event sales, or in a similar position
- Minimum 2 years experience in a director level position or equivalent work experience
- Experience in all aspects of sales, including growth strategies, distribution channel management, account development, and business planning
- Communicating orally and written at a full professional proficiency level or greater in the English language
- Knowledge of lighting, audio, video, staging, and rigging systems
- Experience creating and managing sales budgets, revenue streams, and goals
- Experience leading and managing teams, both in person and remotely
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite
- Ability to manage multiple requests and rapidly changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Capable of dealing with problems quickly and effectively
- Outstanding organizational skills
- Flexible customer service oriented attitude with a commitment to supporting a variety of events
- Strong negotiation skills with clients and vendors
- Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment
- Experience using and implementing CRM software/platforms is an asset
- Experience working in a hotel or events venue environment is an asset
- CAD experience and skills is an asset
- Knowledge and experience of Flex Rental Solutions is an asset
- Knowledge of current Safety Guidelines for the Live Performance Industry in Ontario is an asset
- Knowledge of current municipal, provincial, and federal workplace health & safety regulations is an asset
- Knowledge of current Fire and Building Codes is an asset
- Knowledge of current ESA, AODA, OHSA is an asset
- Valid driver's license and vehicle is an asset

Work Conditions:
- Ability to work remotely (from home) majority of the time and be able to attend meetings at the company head office in Toronto as required until restrictions are lifted to return working at company office
