Job Description / Duties

NBS is currently inviting applications for the position of FULL TIME AUDIO VISUAL TECHNICIAN.

In this position, reporting to the Production and Theatre Operations Manager, the Audio Visual Technician oversees the School’s audio visual requirements by producing materials for archives; providing
audio visual support to different users; and maintaining audio visual equipment.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

• Produces audio/visual materials for NBS archives, staff and students: preparing videotape, compact disc, and DVD audio and video recordings; digitizing from analog sources, editing, mastering to DVD, and duplicating as necessary. Recording School shows, events, auditions and classes.
• Provides audio/visual support to NBS facilities (including board meetings and presentations) by: programming, maintaining, and trouble shooting display systems; setting up teleconferencing links.
• Maintains the audio visual archives by: organizing, duplicating, storing and retrieving audio visual materials.
• Ensures operation of all NBS audio/visual equipment by: organizing the maintenance of and repairs to equipment; anticipating needs and purchasing new items as required; preparing and updating asset inventories.
• Provides audio/video equipment to the School by: issuing materials and equipment; training users; maintaining supplies inventory.

Qualifications / Required Skills


• Post-secondary education in a related field plus at least two years related work experience.
• Good working knowledge of video component principals and ability to integrate and trouble shoot audio and visual systems
• Computer skills including memory and data management, PowerPoint, Word, Excel and some Photoshop.
• Audio and Video recording and copying, camera skills, ability to digitize analog media
• Ability to encode and upload to video sharing sites VIMEO & etc.
• Working knowledge of live performance structures
• Video editing skills with Sony Vegas Pro 10 and familiar with DVD authoring software and duplication

Successful candidates must supply Canada’s National Ballet School with a Police Reference Check in accordance with the School’s Child Abuse/Sexual Abuse Prevention Policy; this will be coordinated through the Human Resources Department of NBS.
