Job Description / Duties

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• As assigned by the Technical Director on an event-by-event basis, execute the role of a senior audio technician and other duties such as stage management, the operation of lighting, sound, video projection or other stage equipment, and participate in the load-in, setup, and load-out of programming.
• Supervise casual production personnel on an event specific basis for set-ups, rehearsals, performances, concerts and load-outs, as required.
• Assist touring productions, artists, and rental clients in the effective application of technical equipment and systems. This can include fulfilling the requirements of technical riders, stage plots, or designing functional production systems as needed.
• Participate in the creative and artistic vision and execution of productions in collaboration with the artist.
• Serve as the onsite contact and venue liaison for artists, tour management and rental clients, as required.
• Provide orientation for rental clients or visiting productions on safety, technical specifications, and other areas of facility operations.
• Maintain the working condition of venue equipment and records of maintenance. Identify issues and solutions and provides advice on new acquisitions.
• Understand and abide by the Safety Guidelines for the Live Performance Industry of Ontario, Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA), Ontario Building Code and Ontario Fire Code.
• Act as a Crowd Manager for building evacuation or protect-in-place situations.
• Perform other basic administrative tasks such as photocopying, filing, and receiving deliveries.
• Liaise with artists to facilitate the beginning of each act of a performance (in conjunction with the Front of House Manager).
• Liaise with the Isabel’s Administrative Office and Box Office, as required.
• Attend production and staff meetings, as required.
• Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the loading dock, tool shop, backstage areas and equipment storage rooms.
• Supervise the appropriate use of the back of house rooms (dressing rooms, green room) by artists, tour management and rental clients.
• Deliver or obtain supplies from local vendors, as required.
• Provide tours of the facility to clients and visitors, as required.
• Undertake other duties as delegated in support of the Isabel.

Qualifications / Required Skills

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Advanced experience (2-3 years) in live audio, including front of house and monitors mixing, signal flow, wired and wireless microphones, EQ, compression and acoustics.
• Demonstrated experience with multi-track recording, editing and mixing skills.
• Experience working with artists in a professional performing arts environment.
• Experience in lighting design and operation, as well as stage management is considered an asset.
• Experience in a live performance environment, including the installation and operation of theatrical lighting, sound, and video systems.
• Understanding of safe rigging and materials lifting practices.
• Valid Province of Ontario Class G driver’s license is considered an asset.
• Post-secondary school diploma with knowledge of theatrical and music practices.
• Documented certification of theatrical lighting and sound specialization is considered an asset (i.e. ETCP).
• Experience using ETC Eos family lighting consoles is considered an asset.
• Experience or knowledge of live streaming is considered an asset.
• Experience or knowledge of video projection is considered an asset.
• Consideration may be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Ability to demonstrate sensitivity to artistic work, and exercise creative thinking and situational awareness to develop solutions.
• Computer and office skills, including proficiency with a variety of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications, as well as an ability to learn new software.
• Problem-solving skills with an ability to know when to refer problems to others.

• Prioritize work and manage time by deciding which task is the most important among several in order to maintain deadlines.
• Provide reasonable answers or a means to find an answer. Redirect to more senior staff or other individual(s) as required.

Salary: $55,670 pro-rated to an actual salary of $47,717.10 based on working 30 hours per week.
