Vancouver BC -The Vancouver Civic Theatres Board officially announced at their Board meeting of June 21, 2012 that their Director of the Vancouver Civic Theatres; Rae Ackerman has decided to retire after 22 years of dedicated service to the City of Vancouver and the entertainment community as a whole. Rae’s last day of service will be August 2, 2012 as he will be moving to Montreal.
"Rae’s expertise over the years has been invaluable to our theatres and the many producers that use our facilities. We have seen major improvements and renovations of all three theatres over the years and are most grateful for his guidance and project management skills. In addition, Rae had the foresight to add the Orpheum Annex to our list of theatres. The Orpheum Annex serves the artistic community as a rehearsal hall and performance space." writes Rob Haynes Chair of Vancouver Civic Theatres Board. Assistant director of the Vancouver Civic Theatres, Todd Ayotte will act as an interim director. Todd also brings to the theatres a great deal of knowledge and expertise. Board representative responsible for resident companies Karen Wilson will continue to liaise with resident companies. A formal send off and farewell to Rae is planned for mid September. A long-standing member and supporter of CITT, Rae received the CITT Honorary Membership Award in 1999 and was guest speaker at the CITT Rendez-vous 2011 in Victoria. |
