What's New > A message from CITT/ICTS Executive Director
It’s hard to believe how quickly this Fall has flown by!
For many of us, this season has been a whirlwind of productions, end-of-term shows, exams, trade shows, and now holiday gatherings. At the National Office, it’s been equally busy. We’ve moved our Montreal offices, hosted monthly informational Zoom sessions, and been hard at work preparing for the next edition of EXPO-SCÈNE, Rendez-vous 2025, and the upcoming LDI Canadian Reception being held on December 9th.
EXPO-SCÈNE 2025 is in full swing with the early bird deadline for exhibitors ending on November 30th, and delegate registration opening on November 18th, and we’re excited about what next year’s edition will bring. If you want to keep up to date with the latest happenings I recommend that you sign up for email updates, register for your free visitor badge, and follow EXPO-SCÈNE on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn or X.
I’ve just returned from Halifax, where I spent a few days planning for Rendez-vous 2025. I’m thrilled to share that this year’s event will be hosted at the Dalhousie Arts Centre and Fountain School of Performing Arts, both located on the Dalhousie University campus. We’re looking forward to collaborating with the Dalhousie team as we prepare for an unforgettable event in August. Our call for session proposals for Rendez-vous 2025 is now open, and I encourage all members interested in presenting to submit.
As we continue to grow and move forward with our mission, we’re looking for members to join our committees and provide valuable input. We’d love your help to shape the future of our organization! Additionally, in January, we’ll be hosting another Zoom session, diving into the administration side of working in the technical arts — covering topics like handling tax income, the difference between self-employment vs employment, how to create and enforce a contract, and more. Stay tuned for more details.
I also wanted to share the sad news of the passing of Ron Foley, a long-time member and supporter of CITT/ICTS, and a valued colleague to many of us. On behalf of the Board and National Office, we extend our deepest condolences to Ron’s family, friends, and colleagues.
As always, be sure to follow CITT/ICTS on social media (see links at the top right of this webpage) and visit the news section of our website for the latest from the National Office, our Regional Sections, and industry happenings.
While this is undoubtedly a busy time for all of us, I encourage you to take a moment to recharge and care for yourself. It is essential to find that balance — even during the busiest of times.
I hope to see some of you at LDI in just over a week!
Warm regards,
Jacquie
