Job Description / Duties

JOB DESCRIPTION / PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

-coordinate occupational health and safety program
-supervise custodial personnel:
including hiring/performance-reviews etc
-day-off, vacation/illness custodial shift coverage
-coordinate cleaning and maintenance of facility including:
interior, exterior, furnishings, non-technical equipment
-change theatre marquee
-ordering of supplies
-liaise with contractors and city personnel on site
-assist management with budget for maintenance and custodial
-periodic support of tech personal (eg. load in/out assist)
-collaborative work with other departments as needed
-other duties as assigned (within skill set)

Qualifications / Required Skills

-Must be a collaborative team player
-good communication skills
-Building Maintenance Experience required,
-references required
-supervisory Experience preferred
-Theatre Technical and I.T. experience an asset
-Must be physically fit and able to do some heavy lifting and ladder work
-must be able to work nights, weekends OR early mornings -must have valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle
-Emergency First Aid for Industry (OFA Level 1 Equivalent)
-WHMIS certification
-Current criminal record check
-First Aid, WHMIS, and Crim Check can be obtained during probation period (90 days)

The Sid Williams Theatre is a 500 seat converted movie theatre serving as a professional performing arts venue. We serve commercial and community-based non-profit clients/organizations. We also carry out artistic, educational and outreach programming. The theatre was built in 1935, and renovated in 1971 and 1999. The SWTS operates the facility under contract with the City of Courtenay. We are not a union facility. Some support services are provided by our large volunteer corps.
