Job Description / Duties

Strathcona-Tweedmuir School, located near Okotoks, Alberta is seeking a Theatre Technician for a contract position. The position will begin ASAP and continue until June 2016. Compensation will be competitive and commensurate with the experience and expertise of the technician. There will up to 500 hours of work between now and June 2016 and the technician will be responsible for invoicing the School for hours worked.

A technician is needed for the full day during the school day on Tuesdays when school is in session. Other work will be as needed during the days and evenings with a schedule determined in advance.

Qualifications / Required Skills

-B.F.A or B.A. in theater or technical theatre equivalent or extensive prior work experience in a technical theatre setting
-Run lighting consoles, sound boards and simple projections
-Hang light fixtures from the catwalk
-Maintain prop and costume storage area system
-Work a fly tower
-Maintain theatre equipment
-Attend and support School related events after work hours
-Familiarity with ETC products including the ION lighting console
-Familiarity with digital sound mixing boards such as the Behringer X32
-Working knowledge of moving light fixtures and wireless microphones
-Basic set building and LFX repair skills
-Strong project leadership skills and ability to work with minimal management at times
-Manage multiple projects at once and deliver on deadlines

Additional Information

Technicians must possess their own insurance and undergo a criminal records check. The successful candidate will be required to sign a third party contract.

Salary: Compensation will be competitive and commensurate with the experience and expertise of the technician
