Category: ManagementThe Roundhouse Technical Director is an integral part of the success of all productions and events at the Roundhouse. The TD will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of all events in the Performance Centre and Exhibition Hall and in other areas of the building as requested. Event planning combined with strong technical experience is crucial in managing events from beginning to end for everything from meetings to weddings to theatre and dance performances to art exhibitions. The Technical Director must possess excellent technical skills as well as be a master of interpersonal relationships in dealing with the diversity of clients and users at the Roundhouse from professionals to community members. The TD will report to the Supervisor of Recreation Services at the Roundhouse.
Specific Job Duties
1. Event Management and Support – Working with Roundhouse staff and clients e.g. partners and rentals, the TD will oversee the planning and coordination of events including:
2. Staff Supervision and Leadership – The TD will be responsible for hiring, training, delegating, scheduling, assigning work, supervising, and evaluating support staff e.g. Production Assistant, Head Technicians, Technicians, FOH and other event staff as needed.
3. Safety/Risk Management: The TD will be responsible for all aspects of safety pre-event, during the event, and post event including:

Maintenance of Equipment/Facility – The TD will be responsible for all equipment in the Performance Centre and Exhibition Hall, arranging for regular maintenance work and the purchase of supplies, as well as making recommendations for the purchase of new equipment. The TD will liaise with outside suppliers and Park Board maintenance staff as required.
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday. Some weekend and evening work may be required.

Salary: $28.33 to $33.34 + 8% in lieu of benefits. Benefits package available after three months.
