Job Description / Duties

Reporting to the Technical Director, The Scenic Carpenter will work closely with the Technical Director to:
• Build, load in, install and paint the sets for all shows in the summer season.
• Under the direction of the Technical Director will maintain the Carpentry Shop and scenic paint areas.
• During Changeovers to the next show will be part of the load out and load in crew of each show.
• Additional duties/jobs may be assigned by the Technical Director or Artistic Director with as much notice and consultation as possible.

Qualifications / Required Skills

• Ideally will be a graduate of a Technical Theatre Production Program.
• Strong carpentry skills and knowledge of other areas of theatre production including paint, props.
• Experience and comfortable working with power tools.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team to complete tasks in a timely and professional manner.
• Strong communication and effective problem-solving skills.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs and comfortable climbing a 6-foot A-frame ladder.

Additional Information

Upper Canada Playhouse will arrange housing within Morrisburg area for your stay while on contract. The successful candidate will be required to pay $125 per week to the person housing you.

Contract is May 11th - September 7th 2026

Salary: $825 per week plus 4% vacation pay based on a 35 hour week. Monday-Friday
