Job Description / Duties

The Position: Props Master Builder
This is a full time seasonal positon that typically starts in September through May (26-34 weeks). We do eleven to twelve productions a year; six on the Mainstage, four at our warehouse space, a touring show and fundraiser
Start Date: Fall 2015

Duties & Responsibilities
• Build and fabricate props; including but not limited to, soft goods, hand props, props graphics (creating and adapting, newspaper layout,) casting , props painting, sculpture, furniture repair, alteration, and building, and set decoration
• Participate in Load-ins and Load-outs, Set Dressing, packing etc.
• Research and develop concept and collaborate with supervisor, designers and coworkers to come up with solutions.
• Maintain artistic integrity and quality of work as required by Royal MTC
• Help maintain the workspace, inventory and equipment
• Overtime and weekends as required
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications / Required Skills

• 4 years professional experiences in the field of theatrical props
• Carpentry skills and experience working with hand and power tools required
• Highly skilled in all aspects of soft good construction including but not limited to; hand and machine sewing, furniture upholstery, and drape building
• Painting skills as appropriate for props
• Sculptural/modelling skills as appropriate for props
• Must be self-motivated and able to multitask
• Able to work in fast paced and ever changing environment
• Valid Driver’s license is an asset
• Vector works or CAD experience an asset but not required
