As the head technician for Inlet Theatre and the liaison between the City and community groups, this position will oversee the smooth operation of Inlet Theatre and the Galleria and will coordinate all aspects of City involvement in festivals and major special events.

Responsibilities Community liaison duties will include working with community groups and the public to attract, coordinate and support safe and successful events, including filming. Administrative duties will include scheduling and supervising staff, budgeting and planning and coordinating timelines and activities. Technician duties will include determining event requirements and the set-up and operation of lighting, sound and video systems and related equipment for a variety of events, including troubleshooting.

Qualifications / Required Skills

Three year theatre technical and / or management diploma (ie: two year diploma supplemented by a one year advanced theatre diploma)

Live Performance Electrical Certificate

Certificate of completion from a respected rigging workshop

Minimum five years of related experience in a wide range of theatre and special events, including experience working on large events (indoor and outdoor)

Experience with entertainment industry electrical systems and set-up and operation of sound, light and audio/visual systems for various events, including an understanding of safe work practices

Experience with rigging and safe operation of rigging equipment

Project management experience (planning, organizing, budgeting skills)

Excellent interpersonal, customer service and conflict resolution skills and experience dealing with community groups and the general public

Considerable experience applying good judgment, creative problem solving and independent decision making skills "in the moment"

Demonstrated ability to supervise staff and projects

Strong computer proficiency, including graphics
