The Blyth Festival is currently searching for candidates to fill the seasonal positions of House Technicians (x2) and Carpentry Production Assistant for the summer 2017 season:
HOUSE TECHNICIANS: (May 29 to Sept 24 or Sept 30, 2017) The responsibilities include but are not necessarily limited to those normally associated with a similar position in other professional Canadian theatre companies. They include assisting with technical aspects of the Blyth Festival season including day to day use and maintenance of sound, lighting & video equipment and tools, assisting with work in the theatre as it relates to load-ins, fit-ups, lighting, lighting hangs and focus sessions for all productions in the summer season, technical rehearsals, previews, changeovers, running lighting or sound board during the shows, load outs and daily cleanup and general activities in the theatre as needed and/or assigned by Technical Director and Production Manager.
CARPENTRY PRODUCTION ASSISTANT: (June 5 to September 30, 2017) The responsibilities include but are not necessarily limited to those normally associated with a similar position in other professional Canadian theatre companies. They include working in the scene shop; including day to day use and maintenance of tools, scheduling of work in the scene shop, building of sets for all shows in the summer season, load-in, fit-up, technical rehearsals (as required), changeovers, load outs and daily cleanup and activities in the scene shop and other duties as assigned by the Technical Director or Production Manager.
HOUSE TECHNICIANS: Working at Heights mandatory; experience with QLAB; experience with Digico S21 (digital w/Dante card) & ETC Element consoles; ability to lift 50lbs; valid G Drivers Licence an asset.

The Blyth Centre for the Arts (including Blyth Festival) was founded in 1975 to produce theatre that reflects the culture and concerns for the people of southwestern Ontario and beyond. In 1975, few scripts that fit the Festival's mandate were being written so we jumped into the creation of new work. At that time, the festival was the only summer theatre producing original Canadian plays, and one of the very few, if not the only "500-seat" theatre in Canada producing Canadian plays exclusively.
Today, located in a village of 1000 in rural Huron County, the Blyth Centre for the Arts is a year-round centre of cultural activity for southwestern Ontario.
Salary: $600 -$675/wk + vacation pay

Blyth Festival (also known as Blyth Centre for the Arts) was founded in 1975 and functions as an arts centre for Huron County in Southwestern Ontario. The theatre presents a four to six play summer season of exclusively Canadian theatre, with an emphasis on new work.
The Blyth Festival takes place in Blyth Memorial Hall, a municipally owned, newly renovated 379-seat theatre. There are two rehearsal halls, one of which functions as a studio theatre, and ample backstage space for repertory changeovers.
In 2017, the Blyth Festival will produce a repertory summer season of four new Canadian plays and our annual Young Company project, as well as present two shows in our studio space.
