Job Description / Duties

POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Director of Production & Operations, the Facility & Maintenance Coordinator is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and well-functioning facility. This includes janitorial services, general building maintenance, minor mechanical and electrical repairs, and supporting the technical department with venue supervision and event set-up.
The role also acts as an on-site liaison for contracted service providers and supports overall facility operations. Most work is indoors, with some outdoor responsibilities in all weather conditions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provides janitorial service, including cleaning and sanitizing public washrooms and public spaces, emptying waste containers, stocking washrooms, mopping floors and general facility cleaning and sanitization
• Performs general building maintenance service and repairs, including painting, drywall, basic MEP repairs and maintenance, changing lightbulbs etc.
• Receives deliveries and maintains inventory of building and cleaning supplies
• Support the scheduling and implementation of maintenance plans
• Assist with the management and delivery of facility support services, including casual cleaning staff, janitorial services and other contractors and service providers
• Supervise and secure facility when required, specifically during scheduled events
• Minor landscaping duties, snow removal and salting of parking lot and sidewalks
• Assists with preparation and delivery of performances and events, including room set-up, unlocking doors and coordinating parking
• Act as on-site liaison for all contracted janitorial services
• Act as emergency coordinator during events and performances
• Maintenance and organization of theatre and building equipment as needed
• Monitor facility conditions and identify maintenance or safety issues, escalating as required
• Participate in BPAC’s JHSC
• Included on the call list for any security or fire alarm response calls in the absence of the Director of Production & Operations or Technical Supervisor
• Maintain clear communication with the Director of Production & Operations and relevant departments regarding facility needs and priorities
• Other duties as mutually agreed to and assigned

Qualifications / Required Skills

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
• Basic computer skills are required; familiarity with BAS (Building Automation Systems) is an asset
• Knowledge of WHMIS, OHSA, and general Health & Safety guidelines preferred
• Experience using industrial cleaning supplies and/or safety equipment preferred
• Experience in facility maintenance, custodial operations, or building operations preferred
• Experience in the performing arts industry an asset
• Experience working with external contractors or service providers an asset
• A demonstrated ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage workload in a fast-paced, event-driven environment
• Fall Protection and Lift Certification (vertical mast lift and electric scissor lift) is an asset
• Standard First Aid certification is an asset
• Ability to perform physical work, including lifting, standing for extended periods, and working indoors and outdoors
• Excellent external and internal customer service skills with a high level of professionalism, and the ability to foster positive working relationships with all staff and stakeholders

Additional Information

HOURS OF WORK: Full-time position, based on 40-hours per week. The position requires flexible hours and will include evenings, weekends and split shifts during some performance periods.

Salary: $55,000–$65,000, commensurate with experience, plus a comprehensive benefits and pension package, and three (3) weeks’ vacation per annum.
