While Darryl has always being interested in all things artistic, it is in the theatre that he has found an outlet for his creative ideas and energy.
He moved from making props at the Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre to Technical Direction, Stage Management, and then both set and costume Design, and lighting at many Winnipeg theatre companies, and Winnipeg Fringe Festival Companies and productions, as well as television productions.
He left theatre after 15 productions to pursue other creative interests, becoming involved in the world of miniature model building and creating some of the finest award winning Shadow-box dioramas in North America.
His work can be seen at boxdioramas.com, which he co-founded with his mentor Sheperd Paine of Chicago, as well as on his personal website, darrylaudette.com
Darryl’s love of the stage space has never left him, he returned as a professional model builder, and also returned a few years ago to the University of Winnipeg Faculty of Theatre and Film as an honours student in set, costume and lighting Design.
He is the past recipient of the Banff Centre Scholarship in Theatre Production, and was a being awarded the Royal Manitoba Theater Centre Design Apprentice in 2014, 2015, and 2016.
Darryl remains available for Design and Technical Direction freelance work.
