SUMMARY:Must the show go on?
DESCRIPTION:All hours are Atlantic Daylight Time (ADT)\n\n-- Must the sh
ow go on? --\n\nEducational Session\n\nDo you know what it feels like to
be the one to make the decision that will end a show early and disappoi
nt thousands of fans? Or what it feels like to tell a producer that youâ
€™re about to cost them money because you need to take action to keep pe
ople safe? I do! Join me, legal scholar*, Harvard-educated philosopher**
, and Event Safety Alliance Canada Board Chair, as I lead an interactive
group exploration on how we make some of the toughest decisions folks i
n our business might need to make: do we go on with the show or not?\n\n
We’ll consider the clash of practical and moral concerns as we dive in
to real-world case studies of events facing emergency situations, see ho
w legislation can guide us in our decision making, and even touch on a 3
000-year-old principle that continues to ground our legal systems to thi
s day.\n\nBy attending this session, participants will become more comfo
rtable with the natural discomfort that comes with making challenging de
cisions. They will gain a better understanding of how to think about ris
k and liability when thinking about emergency situations that they may f
ace at their venue. Participants will also gain perspectives on how to r
ead and interpret legislation, specifically exploring occupiers’ liabi
lity acts and occupational health and safety acts and regulations.\n\n*K
evin Tanner studied law at one of the UK's most accessible internet-base
d law schools. **Kevin bases this claim on a single verified-completion
HarvardX online course he took.\n\nDate, Time & Location: Thursday Augu
